Five people arrested in Chicago over murder-for-hire plot related to hip-hop feud

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Five people were arrested in Chicago after a 2022 shooting in West Hollywood that stemmed from the murder of a Chicago rapper.

They’re identified as Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey and Asa Houston.

Prosecutors say of the five, two are Chicago street gang members.

Federal charges include committing murder for hire, involving death and use of a machine gun in a violent crime resulting in death.

The charges stem from a shooting in August of 2022 in California that targeted Quando Rondo and left the Georgia rapper’s 24-year-old cousin dead.

The five are accused of having ties to Only the Family (OTF), a hip hop group founded by South Side rapper Lil Durk which has ties to King Von, a local rapper fatally shot in Atlanta in late 2020.

Prosecutors say all of those charged were offered money and “lucrative music opportunities” if they murdered Quando Rondo who was suspected of being involved in King Von’s death.

They also say photos from the California crime scene as well as flight and rental car purchases link OTF to the case.
