(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago police say an argument between a man and a woman in Washington Park turned into a fatal shooting Friday afternoon, when someone passing by tried to intervene.
Police say this all happened around noon along E 56th Street, just off King Drive.
Investigators say a 26-year-old man and a woman were arguing on the sidewalk, when a 23-year-old man who was driving by saw the fight. That man stopped and tried to intervene.
Police say the older man pulled out a gun, and that’s when the younger man took out his own gun and shot the other man in the chest.
The 26-year-old died at University of Chicago Medical Center.
The younger man is in police custody. He had a valid “FOID” card and a concealed-carry license, according to officials.
There’s no word yet on charges.
