CHICAGO — The restaurant worker charged with killing two men inside JJ’s Fish and Chicken on Chicago’s South Side appeared in court Tuesday.
Earlier this month , prosecutors charged 42-year-old Mehdi Medellel with two felony counts of first-degree murder following an altercation inside the restaurant located at 78th and Western in the city’s Ashburn neighborhood.
Prosecutors called the deaths of 57-year-old Paul Williams and 56-year-old David Swick “an execution.” Surveillance video showed Williams sorting through a suitcase on the floor. Swick had been sitting down eating. Prosecutors allege Medellell approached and shot both victims in the head.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said moments before the double shooting, Medellel allegedly got into an argument with both unhoused men.
Loved ones confirmed that both men were without homes before the shooting and still await justice.
