Woman hit by stray bullet while inside Chatham apartment: Police

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – A woman was wounded in her South Side apartment Monday night as gunfire erupted on the next block.

According to police, a man was being robbed by three armed men at a bus stop near 82nd and Cottage Grove. It was about 9:30 p.m.

As the man’s belongings were being taken, police said, he ran. The robbers fired shots at the man, and, police said one bullet traveled to the next block.

A 20-year-old woman inside an apartment was wounded. She was shot in the shoulder.

She was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center. She was in good condition.

Nobody else was injured. Police said nobody is in custody.
