LOMBARD, Ill – A 16-year-old girl battling a serious illness opened up her own cookie business.
Despite her illness, Neysa Bianco never gave up on her dream of owning a bakery one day.
On Sunday, Cookies And Crumbs officially opened for business. It was made possible through Make-A-Wish Illinois.
“We love wishes like this because the community can be involved, come out and support this wish kid,” said Jessica Miller of Make-A-Wish Illinois.
Hundreds of people came out to Montini Catholic High School in Lombard to support Neysa and try some delicious cookies. Over the years, Neysa’s dream seemed far fetched due to her ongoing health issues.
“She was born with TLC. Her seizures were under control until February 2019, right before the world shut down,” Neysa’s mother Marisa Bianco said.

Diagnosed with a genetic disorder, Neysa grew up baking with her mother. Doing so helped her get through the toughest times of her condition, which has required surgeries and many hospitalizations.
