A woman was tragically shot and killed while participating in her brother’s funeral procession in Chicago’s southern suburb of Dixmoor on Saturday. The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Rhomesha Turner from Calumet Park. This devastating incident marks the second loss for the family within a two-week span.
At 12:01 p.m., local police reported to the site of an accident at 147th Street and Seeley Avenue, where they discovered a white Jaguar SUV had crashed into a house and the driver dead from gunshot wounds , according to Dixmoor Police Chief Lionel Smith.
She had been part of a funeral procession leaving St. Mark’s Church in Harvey to honor her late brother – who was also killed by gunshots two weeks ago.
Turner was rushed to UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey by Bud’s Ambulance, but sadly, she did not survive .
