CHICAGO – Chicago police are investigating a series of burglaries across the Northwest Side after more than half a dozen businesses were targeted within about 24 hours.
Police said between around 4:30 a.m. Sunday and 4:30 a.m. Monday, the suspects targeted multiple businesses in Jefferson Park, Norwood Park, Irving Park and Bucktown. In several incidents, the suspects broke windows to get inside before taking items.
Some of the cases even involved the suspects stealing ATM machines.
One convenience store in the 3400 block of West Irving Park Road had its ATM ripped right out of the building, and a similar incident happened Monday morning at a grocery store on West Diversey Avenue in East Lakeview. In that incident, the suspects wrapped the ATM in chains and ripped it out through the front of the building using a red SUV, according to police.
