2 dead, 3 wounded in separate shootings throughout Sunday in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood

CHICAGO — Three shootings in the Little Village neighborhood on Chicago’s Southwest Side left two people dead, including a teenager, and three others wounded in less than 24 hours Sunday.

Police are still searching for suspects in all three shootings and had nobody in custody for any of them as of early Monday morning.

The latest one happened around 10:45 p.m. Sunday in the 2300 block of South Washtenaw Avenue, according to police. A 22-year-old man was standing outside a church when he was shot by an unidentified offender driving in a black sedan.

Police say the victim was shot twice in the arm and once in the chest and was taken to an area hospital in fair condition.

Just under seven hours before that, around 4 p.m. Sunday, a 43-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman were shot in a drive-by incident in the 4000 block of West 26th Street.

Police say a dark-colored sedan pulled up and an unknown offender fired multiple shots from inside the vehicle, hitting the man numerous times throughout the body and the woman once in the left leg.
