Gun violence strikes again in Englewood, leaving community on edge
CHICAGO — Gunfire shattered the silence of a South Side alley early Thursday morning, leaving three people injured, one critically, in the Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood.
Police reported the shooting occurred shortly before 2 a.m. in the 5500 block of South Ada Street. Witnesses described a chaotic scene as multiple gunshots rang out, sending shockwaves through the area.
Among the victims was a 23-year-old man who sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Emergency responders rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
A 23-year-old woman, struck in the left leg, managed to walk into a hospital on her own and is listed in good condition. Similarly, a 26-year-old man, who was shot in both legs, also sought medical attention independently and is reported to be stable.
Authorities have yet to release information about the circumstances leading to the incident or potential suspects. The investigation is ongoing as police canvass the area for clues and gather witness statements.
