Domestic violence defendants are being detained much more often since reassignment of embattled judge

CHICAGO – There are new developments in last month’s fatal stabbing of a woman on the Northwest Side by her estranged husband, who was found dead hours later. First, the Cook County Medical Examiner has determined how the husband died. And, a review of court records by CWBChicago found that domestic violence defendants are being detained almost 50% more often since a Cook County judge who released the husband days before the murder was assigned to new duties.
