Arson investigation underway after burglars set fire to Englewood building

CHICAGO — An arson investigation is underway after burglars set fire to a building on the city’s South Side.

It happened around 11:50 p.m. Sunday at a commericial business on the 5800 block of South Ashland Avenue in the Englewood neighborhood.

Police said two men used bolt cutters to enter the commercial business, then attempted to break into a safe but were unsuccessful.

According to police, the offenders then used an accelerant to set ablaze the building.

No injuries were reporter and there is no one in custody. The arson unit is investigating.
