Last living member of prolific Chicago gospel trio has died

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – A member of a legendary Chicago gospel trio has died.

Rodessa Barrett Porter of the Barrett Sisters has died, just a day after her 94th birthday.

She was the last living member of the gospel trio who became global stars, singing together for 70 years. Their music was, in many churchgoing homes, on rotation regularly.

On social media, her cousin Ron Barrett wrote, “My heart is sad and our family chain is broken again.”

She is survived by her five children, 15 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren.
