Man injured after gunman opens fire on parked car on Northwest Side

CHICAGO — A man was critically injured after a gunman opened fire on his car on the city’s Northwest Side overnight.

Officers said the incident unfolded just after 10 p.m. in the 4700 block of North Kilpatrick Avenue in Irving Park.

According to police, the victim, a man around 40 years of age, told officers that he was sitting in a parked car in the area when a black vehicle approached and an unknown male got out and opened fire.

Following the shooting, officers said the gunman got back in the car and fled the scene in an unknown direction.

The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and was taken to the hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the shooting and no arrests have been made.
