Starts early, ends early, and a lot of fun in between: Chicago friends find success with dance party for women

CHICAGO — Two Chicago friends struck gold trying to scratch their own itch.  Laura Baginski and Susie Lee are the founders of the Early Birds Club , a dance party for women who need to be up at 6 a.m. “because they got things to do!”

Baginski and Lee have been besties since high school.

“I miss that vibe that feeling of having fun with a group of people and just dancing your heart out,” Baginski said.

Then life, work, kids and for Lee, a cancer diagnosis, happened.  But it | got the two thinking.

“Something that made you feel like you were you again. Not a mom. Not a wife. Not a worker…just you,” Lee said.

So they decided to throw a dance party for middle aged women that would start early and end early. And that was the beginning of what is now known as The Early Birds Club.

Hundreds showed up for that first party last February. It started at 6 p.m. and ended at 10 p.m.

Fast forward almost a year later, and the group have hosted dozens of dance parties throughout Chicago, L.A. and New York, each one selling out online within minutes.
