Crowds gather for Christmas masses at Holy Name

CHICAGO — Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve at Holy Name Cathedral drew a large crowd Tuesday night.

Christmas caroling kicked off about 11:20 p.m. and Archbishop of Chicago, Cardinal Blasé Cupich lead the service.

“The message is very clear. We are not to be afraid of our humanity but to embrace it. Not to be afraid of our weaknesses, our mortality, our limitations in life…. When God enters into us,” he said.

It’s a tradition every year in the city of Chicago

Holy Name Cathedral has been broadcasting midnight mass live for decades.

The church will hold four more masses Christmas morning and afternoon.
