CHICAGO – Just like everyone else in the country, Chicagoans are trying their luck in hopes of being the sole winner of Friday night’s Mega Millions Jackpot.
Officials announced Friday that the grand prize is now an estimated $1.22 billion. This comes after Tuesday’s drawing, which was listed at $1.15 billion.
If someone were to win Friday night, it would be the fifth largest Mega Millions Prize ever won. The cash option would send someone home with $549.7 million.

At $2 per play, many Chicagoans have been trying their luck at convenience stores and everywhere the game is played, which includes 45 states, plus the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands.
If you win big, the possibilities are endless.
Of course, the odds of you winning are pretty (very) slim at 1-in-32 million, but lottery players WGN News spoke with on Friday had high hopes.
“I would love to [win]. It only takes on ticket,” Mega Millions player Barbara Robles said. “I can help pay off the house, my husband’s and mine and my daughter’s.”
