$20,000 reward offered as Chicago, Midwest communities unite to seek justice
CHICAGO — Authorities are turning to the public for assistance in solving a devastating mass shooting that took place on December 2 in the Gage Park neighborhood on Chicago’s Southwest Side. With a $20,000 reward on the table, officials are hopeful that someone will step forward with information that could crack the case wide open.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and Cook County Crime Stoppers are each contributing $10,000 to the reward. Over the weekend, volunteers and investigators took to the streets, knocking on doors in the area to address residents’ concerns and encourage anonymous tips.
asked George McDade, Chairman of Cook County Crime Stoppers, emphasizing the urgency of preventing further violence.
The shooting occurred just after 2 p.m. inside a home on West 59th Street and St. Louis Avenue during what was reportedly a party. Eight people, ranging in age from 20 to 35, were shot, and three men lost their lives in the tragedy.
