32-year-old woman killed in single-vehicle crash on Chicago’s South Side, police say

CHICAGO — A 32-year-old woman died after being ejected from her car in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in the New City neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side.

According to Chicago police, the woman was speeding westbound in a Hyundai SUV around 3:45 a.m. in the 500 block of West Garfield Boulevard when she hit a median and then a tree before being ejected from the vehicle.

Police say she was taken to an area hospital by the Chicago Fire Department, where she was pronounced dead.

The woman’s identity has not yet been released, and the Major Accidents Unit is investigating the crash.
