CTA Red Line service resumes on North Side after CPD bomb squad investigates suspicious item

The CTA Red Line was temporarily shut down Sunday evening on the North Side.

The train service was shut down around 7:26 p.m. between the Howard and Belmont stops after a suspicious item was located on the Wilson CTA platform, officials said.

The Chicago police bomb squad investigated the item, CPD told ABC7. It was not yet known if there was a legitimate threat.

Red Line trains have now returned to normal operations, ABC7 was told around 8:30 p.m.

Shuttles had been requested to help train passengers get to their destinations during the disruption, CTA said.
