Man, 29, found dead of gunshot wounds on South Side in 1st reported homicide of 2025 in city, police say

CHICAGO — The first reported homicide of the year in Chicago occurred early Wednesday morning in the Roseland neighborhood on the city’s South Side, according to police.

A 29-year-old man was found unresponsive around 3:30 a.m. in the 9400 block of South Harvard Avenue with two gunshot wounds to the body, police say. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Nobody is in custody, and Area Two detectives are investigating.
