CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Two people are being treated for smoke inhalation after a fire broke out Thursday morning in a Gold Coast high-rise condo building.
Firefighters responded to 1030 N. State, the Newberry Plaza Condominiums, at about 6:45 a.m., according to Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford
“First units got on the scene in about four minutes and saw that they did have a confirmed fire, raised the alarm to still and box response,” Lanford told WBBM.
They conducted search and rescue.
“[The] fire was quickly extinguished…Smoke was mitigated, and the fire investigation is now underway into the cause and origin of this fire,” he added.
Langford said the fire was confined to one unit on the 15th floor.
The occupants have non-life-threatening injuries.
