Hammond man accused of killing ex-wife arrested in Chicago after days-long search

CHICAGO — A man wanted in connection with the murder of his ex-wife in northwest Indiana last month was taken into custody in Chicago this week.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, 39-year-old Allen Oscar Woods, a Hammond, Indiana resident, was taken into custody on Wednesday following a days-long search.

Authorities said Woods was wanted in connection with the shooting death of his ex-wife, Tiffany Woods, who he allegedly shot multiple times publicly on the afternoon of Dec. 27. Charges against Woods in connection with his ex-wife’s murder have been filed in Lake Criminal Court.

Last week, authorities asked the public for help in the search for Woods, who was believed to be in Chicago.

Authorities at around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, a tip came in that an individual meeting the fugitive’s description was spotted near the 1200 block of South Canal Street, on the Near West Side in Chicago.
