Englewood Residents on High Alert as Armed Robberies Plague Chicago Neighborhood

The Englewood neighborhood is grappling with a series of armed robberies, according to a recent community alert from the Chicago Police Department’s 7th District. Reports indicate that the series of thefts are marked by a similar modus operandi, with offenders believed to be two African-American males donned in black ski masks and armed with handguns, boldly demanding property from their victims.

Details from the community alert show that three incidents have recently shaken up the area. The first taking place on January 18, 2025, at the 300 Block of West Garfield Blvd. at 9:00 p.m. A preceding robbery occurred on December 24, 2024, at the 1100 Block of West Garfield Blvd. around 4:00 p.m. and another on December 20, 2024, on the 800 Block of West Garfield Blvd. at 0920 a.m.

While the Chicago Police have provided descriptions, the face-concealing attire has made it difficult to identify the robbers. Sporting black hooded sweatshirts in addition to the ski masks, the suspects have successfully eluded identification and capture, retreating to areas unknown after the thefts.
