CHICAGO — A 13-time convicted felon who is on probation—yes, probation—for burglary has been charged with burglary again after he allegedly broke into an Edgewater man’s garage and forgetfully left a backpack containing his driver’s license at the crime scene.
Prosecutors say Eduardo Torres proceeded to file a false police report saying he had been robbed of the backpack to cover up the fact that his bag was inside the victim’s garage.
Surveillance video allegedly showed the 54-year-old entering a garage in the 1300 block of West Rosedale on December 21 to steal a Weedwacker and a leaf blower.
