A 9-year-old boy was hospitalized after getting shot Saturday evening in East Hyde Park.
According to police, the shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m. on March 15, shortly after the boy found a firearm inside a home in the 5000 block of S. East End Avenue.
A man was trying to retrieve the gun from the boy, according to police, when it discharged. The boy was shot in the leg and transported to the University of Chicago Medical center, and then later to Comer Children’s Hospital, where he was listed in good condition…
