Illinois Police Have Suddenly Reopened an 18-Year-Old Cold Case

Illinois police are trying to help solve something that has been a mystery since 2007. It’s a cold case murder that they have reopened and are asking for your help to bring closure to this once and for all.

One of the investigation units of the Illinois State Police are seeking new information that will hopefully help them solve a murder dating back to March 30, 2007 when a body was found near this location in the Little Calumet River.

It was on that day that the body of 17-year-old Christopher Pineda was found floating in the river. Later police would conclude that he died of blunt force trauma to the head. Here’s what police know about Christopher just prior to his murder.

  • He went to school at Whitney Young High School on March 23, 2007
  • After school, he went to his girlfriend’s place of employment on the Southside of Chicago
  • He told her he was headed home
  • The last time Christopher was seen alive he was walking northbound on Ewing near 108th in Chicago

Illinois State Police investigators want to know what happened to Christopher Pineda after that sighting near 108th in Chicago. He was wearing jeans, black polo with gold stripes, black hooded sweatshirt and gym shoes. They believe that someone somewhere has heard stories of Christopher being beaten or placed in the water…
