Shooting victim refused to cooperate with police, but detectives tracked down the 16-year-old gunman anyway. Charges filed.

CHICAGO — A 19-year-old man who nearly died after being shot inside a West Side convenience store has not been cooperating with Chicago police detectives. But that didn’t stop the investigators from figuring out who shot him, and it didn’t stop prosecutors from filing charges, either.

Officials say the gunman is 16-year-old Javeon Gathright. Judge Deidre Dyer ordered him to remain in custody pending trial.
