Chicago police officers responding to a call in Little Village on the city’s Southwest Side became the target of an alleged gang-related shooting, police sources said.
Police say that officers were responding to the Little Village area on a report of four males standing in the street, stopping vehicles and pointing guns, when they were fired upon.
Mayor Brandon Johnson says “This brazen act of violence has no place in our communities. These individuals put our police officers and the entire neighborhood in danger by recklessly firing down a residential street. While we are relieved that no officers or residents were injured in this incident, this could have easily become a tragedy. The Chicago Police Department is investigating this incident, and we will provide updates as they become available. We must continue to double down on our efforts to get illegal guns off of our streets and to stem the flow of guns into our city.”…
