17-year-old shot 16-year-old in the head during drug rip-off attempt, prosecutors say

CHICAGO — A 17-year-old boy shot a 16-year-old boy in the head during an attempted drug rip-off on the Southwest Side, officials said. Angelo Carlin is now charged with attempted murder and the victim has a long recovery ahead.

Prosecutors said Carlin arranged to buy marijuana from the other teen via social media and they agreed to complete the deal in the 8100 block of South Scottsdale on March 28.

Officials said the victim, a Cicero resident, drove to that location and showed Carlin the pot he had available. Carlin, however, pulled out a gun and ordered the boy to hand over all of his marijuana, prosecutors said in a detention petition…
