There is a growing threat of explosive supercell development over Missouri and Illinois early next week as meteorologists are saying even ‘intense tornadoes’ are a possibility.
Be warned this is not just one meteorologist’s prediction or exaggerations from storm chasers. This is an official statement issued by forecasters at NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center. They have just upgraded the threat expectations about what they think will develop over parts of Missouri and Illinois beginning Monday afternoon. This is their new map showing the probability of severe storms that day.
That has resulted in an upgrade also to their advisory areas with parts of Illinois and Missouri included in that, too.
