Bystanders apprehended killer who fatally stabbed woman outside CTA station: prosecutors

Witnesses to a fatal stabbing outside the Central Green Line station stepped in and detained the killer until police arrived, officials said. Emily Carlson, 25, of Glendale Heights, died from a single stab wound she received to her upper back around 1 p.m. on April 24.

Prosecutors said 54-year-old Willie Holmes spat on Carlson and a witness reacted by punching Holmes. Holmes allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed Carlson in the back. CTA cameras recorded the encounter.

Carlson’s friend chased after Holmes and blocked him with a bike, officials said. Other witnesses helped detain him until Chicago cops arrived. Officers said they recovered a black folding knife from his pants pocket…
