Man gets 15 years for robbing 4 Subway sandwich shops in downtown Chicago, suburbs

A man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to robbing a string of Subway sandwich shops in downtown Chicago and in Melrose Park.

Nicholas Wardford, 32, has pleaded guilty to five cases so far and still has one more pending, which should be resolved soon.

On July 15, 2023, Wardford grabbed a drink from a refrigerator at the Subway at 1232 South Canal and went to the register. Prosecutors said he pulled out a gun, pistol-whipped the cashier, and took money from the register…
