Noem calls on Illinois governor to abandon sanctuary city policies

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is calling on Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker to end his state’s sanctuary policies.

Since 2017, Illinois has been one of several states that either limit or refuse to cooperate with immigration and Border Patrol agents to protect undocumented immigrants from deportation.

“The results have been absolutely disastrous for people who live here,” Noem said Wednesday at an event in Springfield, Illinois, where she was flanked by the families of several state residents whose loved ones were killed or allegedly killed by undocumented immigrants…
