We’re all still a month and a half away from the official start of summer, but it would be a good idea for you to prepare yourself early as Illinois will experience scorching heat sooner rather than later.
Illinois has already has had tastes of summer temperatures with upper 70’s and low 80’s, but expect that to go next level over the next few weeks. The “Omega Block” of low pressure that’s been spinning over Illinois and keeping conditions cool is giving way and the next pattern shows that the heat is about to be on.
Here’s the 6 to 10 day temperature forecast from NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center. This is the percentage chance that an area will experience above average temperature. Pay special attention to the northern half of Illinois.
