Man Who Fatally Shot Another Man In Self-defense Sentenced To Prison For Illegally Possessing The Gun He Used

A man who openly admitted to shooting and killing another man in Rogers Park has been sentenced to four years in prison for illegal possession of the firearm used in the shooting.

Prosecutors never charged Kamari Robinson, 26, with killing Kenneth Sandy, 30, because they believed he was acting in self-defense. However, they did prosecute the three-time offender with illegally possessing a firearm.

Sandy and Robinson got into a disagreement around 2 p.m. on November 16, 2023, in the 1600 block of West Howard, only feet from the Howard CTA stop, according to officials. The debate became physical, and Robinson allegedly shot Sandy dead while a nearby surveillance camera filmed the incident…
