A pre-trial detention has been ordered for Chicago resident Arthur Turner, 38, following a high-speed chase that culminated in a collision with a suburban home and subsequent arrest, as the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s office reports. Turner, with a pending arrest warrant for armed robbery, now faces multiple felony charges, including burglary, retail theft, and aggravated battery against a police officer. In contrast, the judge allowed co-defendants Owin Turner, 54, and Thomas White, 55, to remain free until trial.
According to details released by the Villa Park Police, the series of events began early in the morning of May 9, 2025, when three individuals, later identified as the aforementioned defendants, allegedly stole items from two local Walgreens stores; subsequently, when Villa Park officers attempted to stop the vehicle Turner was driving, a Nissan, he chose to flee leading officers on a chase reaching 62 mph in a zone designated for 25 mph which ultimately ended in a precarious crash near an elementary school, causing the institution to enact a “secure and teach” protocol.
