A DuPage County judge this week refused to detain a man who prosecutors have accused of robbing a U.S. Postal Service mail carrier at gunpoint. Judge Joshua Dieden “noted the significant passage of time since the alleged offense and [the man’s] lack of any criminal history” in rejecting the state’s detention petition, the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office said.
Prosecutors told Dieden that a mail carrier was emptying mail from collection boxes in Hinsdale when an unknown gunman approached him around 1:21 p.m. on May 9, 2022. The robber put a gun to the postal worker’s side and demanded the victim’s master key, which can unlock collection boxes in several western suburbs, officials said.
After getting the key, the gunman fled in a black Nissan driven by Antwan Kelsor, 22, of Chicago, according to the state’s attorney. Over the following weeks, the key was used to steal mail in Hinsdale and Oak Brook…
