GRAND BOULEVARD — A plan to bring a Pete’s Fresh Market to Bronzeville is still alive more than six years after it was announced, but it needs more support from city officials to become reality, said the developer leading the project.
Developer Zeb McLaurin, speaking at a recent ward town hall meeting convened by Ald. Pat Dowell (3rd), said his team is preparing for zoning conversations with the city regarding long-stalled plans to build the grocery store on the former public housing site.
McLaurin noted revisions to the plans, including positioning the store on the south side of Pershing rather than the initial plan of building it on the north side of the street. He added that “delays and obstacles” involving the city and Chicago Housing Authority were behind that pivot…
