Security guard fires shot after being struck by hit-and-run driver near Wrigley Field

A private security guard fired a shot after being struck by a hit-and-run driver near Wrigley Field early Sunday, according to Chicago police. No injuries resulted from the gunfire, but the security guard was hospitalized.

The incident began when CPD officers attempted to stop a light-colored SUV for speeding in the 3500 block of North Clark Street around 2:15 a.m., according to a police spokesperson. A 34-year-old armed security guard was trying to assist the police with the traffic stop when the driver struck the guard with the vehicle, the spokesperson said.
