CHICAGO — A growing sense of urgency surrounds the case of a missing man in Englewood, where community members and law enforcement are working together in hopes of finding 26-year-old Jerome Purdis, who disappeared last Sunday.
Declared an Endangered Missing Person
The Chicago Police Department has officially classified Purdis as an endangered missing person, heightening concern for his safety. According to police, Purdis has not been seen or heard from since the weekend, and his family is deeply worried.
Purdis is described as:
- 5 feet 6 inches tall
- 160 pounds
- Brown eyes
- Black hair with long dreadlocks
- Mustache and beard
He was last seen wearing a blue GAP-logo sweater, black shorts, and red and black shoes, per a CPD bulletin issued earlier this week.
Family and Community Voice Concern
According to police, family members contacted authorities soon after Jerome was last seen, saying his disappearance is entirely out of character. The incident has sparked a wave of concern throughout the Englewood neighborhood.
