Man charged with 91 mph expressway crash that killed his younger brother

A 20-year-old man faces involuntary manslaughter charges following a high-speed crash that killed his 18-year-old brother. Aramis Alicea was behind the wheel when, driving about 91 mph, he crashed on the inbound Eisenhower Expressway near Leavitt Street, according to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors say the incident occurred around 10 p.m. on June 7 as Alicea drove with his brother, Noah, in the front passenger seat. Investigators determined Alicea was wearing a seatbelt, but his brother was not.

Witnesses reported seeing Alicea speeding dangerously, with two drivers telling state troopers they could physically feel Alicea’s vehicle speeding past them, prosecutors said in a court filing.
