Carjacker, busted after high speed chase and crash, gets nearly a decade in federal prison

A federal judge has sentenced a Chicago man to nearly a decade in prison for a 2022 armed carjacking in West Town that led to a high-speed police chase that ended in a crash.

Allen Clay, 23, pleaded guilty to carjacking and using a firearm during a violent crime, court records show. U.S. District Judge Robert Blakey sentenced Clay to 117 months: 33 months for the carjacking charge and a consecutive 84 months for the firearm offense.

Early on April 25, 2022, Clay and his accomplice, Naronn Cain, were riding in a vehicle when Cain became upset because the driver was “going too slow,” federal prosecutors said.
