Balloon release held to honor victims of suspected West Side arson

CHICAGO (WGN) — Loved ones and community members gathered on Monday evening to remember the four people who were killed in a suspected arson on Chicago’s West Side last week.

Ald. Emma Mitts, who represents the 37th Ward, says she hosted a balloon release to give people a safe place to not only grieve but to come together and offer help for those displaced and those in mourning.

“In this tragedy, we have a senseless act, one that should have never happened. I’d like to see people doing more talking and less being angry and gun violence,” Ald. Mitts said…
