Chicago Man Charged with First-Degree Murder Following Fatal Shooting on N. Cambridge Ave

Chicago Police have formally charged a man in connection to the killing of a 46-year-old male earlier this month. According to an official release from the Chicago Police Department, Obbie Sanders, age 49, of the 8100 block of S. Commercial Ave, now faces several charges including one felony count of first-degree murder and a felony count of murder during another forcible felony.

Sanders is also accused of having tried to elude law enforcement and was charged with a misdemeanor for fleeing and attempting to elude an officer. The arrest took place on the morning of July 5th, after Sanders reportedly fired the lethal shots that claimed the life of the victim in the 800 block of N. Cambridge Ave. Police managed to take Sanders into custody not far from the scene of the crime, on the 300 block of E. Wacker Ramp.

The additional misdemeanors levied against Sanders include operation without insurance, leaving the scene of a crime, and having a revoked or suspended vehicle registration. On top of the misdemeanors, the charges round out with citations for disobeying a red light and failure to reduce speed…
