A second person has been charged in connection with a 2024 carjacking in Chicago’s Roseland neighborhood after DNA evidence tied him to the crime, officials said.
Ricky Hill, 33, was already in custody on an unrelated stolen vehicle charge when he was recently charged with robbery and vehicular hijacking stemming from the April 21, 2024, incident. Prosecutors charged 35-year-old Johnetta Smith with the carjacking last month.
According to court documents, the 45-year-old victim had parked his black 2013 Cadillac CTS in an alley behind the 10900 block of South Edbrooke Avenue and stepped out to relieve himself when a man and woman approached him from behind.
The woman allegedly jumped into the driver’s seat, while the man entered the passenger side. When the victim tried to stop them, the male hijacker pulled a gun and said, “You don’t want to die tonight,” before taking the victim’s wallet. Both carjackers then fled the scene in the stolen vehicle…
