Minneapolis man arrested in Chicago for deadly Boom Island Park shootout

A second suspect wanted in connection to the deadly June 1 mass shooting at Boom Island Park in Minneapolis has been arrested in Chicago.

Marquez Demar Hill-Turnispeed, 23, of Minneapolis, is charged with one count of second-degree murder and three counts of attempted second-degree murder. His arrest comes two weeks after 23-year-old Zyere J. Porter was arrested and charged in connection to the shooting that left one person dead and six others injured.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Hennepin County District Court, Hill-Turnispeed was identified by witnesses who believed he was involved in a gang shootout at Boom Island Park.

The charges claim that Hill-Turnispeed admitted to the Boom Island shooting when he was apprehended by authorities in Chicago. He allegedly told police that he shot at the vehicle that was occupied by 23-year-old Stageina Whiting, of Brooklyn Center, who died from a gunshot wound to her torso…
