Big announcement from the Illinois Governor’s office as a major clean energy company is relocating to the state.
Major Win for Illinois’ Clean Energy Economy
According to the press release, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO), alongside Governor Pritzker, revealed the news that Pure Lithium Corporation is moving its full operation from Boston to Chicago.
The $46 million move is being supported by Illinois’ Reimagining Energy and Vehicles (REV) program and is expected to make the state a national leader in lithium metal battery production.
New Facility in Fulton Market
Pure Lithium’s new facility will open this year (2025) in Chicago’s Fulton Market district, which has become a thriving hub for innovation in tech and clean energy manufacturing, according to the press release.
According to Pure Lithium’s CEO Emilie Bodoin, this shift to Chicago will allow the company to launch a semi-automated battery pilot line, integrating lithium metal reactor technology to fast-track commercial production.
