Downtown alderman ‘relieved’ as Artis Lounge permanently closes after mass shooting

The downtown Chicago nightclub where four people were killed and 14 others injured in a mass shooting earlier this month is permanently shutting its doors—and Ald. Brendan Reilly (42nd) says he’s “relieved” by the decision.

Artis Lounge, located at 311 West Chicago Avenue, hosted a record release party for rapper Mello Buckzz on the night of July 2. As the event was ending, gunmen opened fire outside the venue, spraying more than 20 shots in what could be the single worst shooting in Chicago history.

No arrests have been announced…
