Pritzker to sign Illinois ‘Squatter Bill’ to fast track squatter evictions

CHICAGO, Ill. (WTVO) — Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker is set to sign a “Squatter Bill,” to help property owners fast-track the removal of squatters from a home.

The law would make it easier for police to remove squatters from a residence, skipping the months-long eviction process, which allowed squatters to remain on the property while the case progressed through the courts.

Senate Bill 1563 passed in May and would differentiate between “tenants” and “squatters.” making it easier for owners to regain control of their property…
