DOWNTOWN — Hundreds of kids from underserved corners of Chicago poured into Downtown Saturday, taking in public amenities they usually don’t get to enjoy just days after some city leaders sought to crack down on teens congregating in the city center.
‘Downtown Day,’ organized by Chicago-based nonprofit My Block, My Hood, My City, seeks to bring youth from the West and South sides into the heart of the city to expose young Chicagoans to many of the resources and attractions the city has to offer just a short commute away from their neighborhoods.
